The Arches Theatre: The Wet Mariners Return In 2020

The Wet Mariners are returning to the Arches Theatre this summer with a performance of The Merchant Of Venice ...

In 2018 they opened The Arches Theatre with their adaptation of 'As You Like It'. The production was so well received by our audience, the troupe came back last year to perform 'Romeo And Juliet'. The weather last summer was certainly against them. You may remember the torrential downpours and high winds? But as true professionals, the show went on and they gave two wonderful performances.

"This summer's performance is the Merchant Of Venice!"

On Saturday 15th August they will stage two productions, a matinee performance at 3pm and an evening performance at 7pm. Tickets are £15 per person, with no booking fees. Ticket are on sale now via our website.

The Wet Mariners describe themselves as "a Shakespeare theatre troupe that pop up in the countryside to mess around with the audience and tell stories. Actor led, no director, just words and play". This troupe is made up of professional actors who began working together during their third year at LAMDA - Amy Marchant, Brooke Markham, Ekow Quartey, James Corrigan, Jamie Wilkes, Jane Bradley, Katherine Jack, Shazia Nicholls, Sophie Whittaker and Tom Syms.

They continue to come together each year to form The Wet Mariners and perform Shakespeare to sell-out audiences at their resident venue, The Willow Globe Theatre in Wales. And now at The Arches Theatre too!

When they aren't entertaining us with their ingenious and inventive take on the Bard's work, most of The Wet Mariners are working with leading UK companies including the National and The Globe. Some are appearing on the big screen too!

More recent sightings on TV may include:

- Brooke Markham - currently starring in the American TV series 'In the Dark'
- Katherine Jack - playing Cressida McGuire in the latest Sky Original series 'Cobra'
- Shazia Nicholls - starred alongside Suranne Jones in 'Dr Foster'
- Jamie Wilkes - recently played 'The Pale-Faced Man' in Philip Pullman's 'His Dark Materials'

We hope to have all these amazing actors on our stage this summer, however dependent on their schedules it may not be possible so we'll let you know the final cast in due course. Don't miss out on a wonderful evening of Shakespeare, performed by a highly experienced troupe.
