Sparks Olney: Young Filmmakers Experience On Location Filming

Olney town centre was transported back in time this weekend (5th December) for our annual Dickens of a Christmas event, which saw townspeople take to the high streets dressed in Dickensian attire. Sparks Olney was there to film it ...

Local businesses and traders also lined the street selling festive food, gifts and more! It was a real festive afternoon and a great way to kick start the Christmas celebrations.

"Our young film crew were very lucky to cover the festivities!"

They created a short film about our annual event and filmed the different scenes, chatted to market traders and townspeople, interviewed the Mayor of Olney and the Mayor of Milton Keynes. They really got stuck into showcasing what Dickens of a Christmas is all about and we have plenty of footage to edit. We're very excited to share the final video with you very soon.

As Dickens of a Christmas is a big part of our town's history, we wanted to give our students a new challenge away from the classroom and to be able to show off their amazing filmmaking skills to a new and local audience.

Our students will be back in the classroom at The Olney Centre next Sunday for some further project work and to finish off their team film. We'll be premiering this video very soon!

If you're aged from 8-14 and you're interested in joining a small team of great filmmakers to create fun and inspiring movies and be part of exciting events, why not join us in our January term from 9th January 2022?
