Me, Myself And I: A Little Introduction

I'm David Pibworth and I'm the owner and Creative Director at The Arches Theatre. I've been in the entertainment industry for many years in a variety of roles including actor, writer, producer, director and musician ...

You may have seen me play Abanazar and the Genie in our summer panto, Aladdin, this year. I haven't done panto in quite some time and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I've performed in many Christmas pantomimes up and down the country, as ugly sister and panto dames, which have been brilliant fun, particularly when I played opposite Chesney Hawkes one year as his mum!

"I've also been in a number of Shakespeare performances including both professional and local productions!"

On-screen, I had the fantastic opportunity of playing Barry Seal, the infamous drug smuggler, in a documentary a couple of years ago entitled, 'The Real Barry Seal'. I'll let you know when it's out!

In 2003 I, along with like-minded colleagues, set up Milton Keynes Theatre of Comedy (MKTOC), with the aim of putting on hilarious stage adaptations of well-loved comedy classics, such as Steptoe and Son, Fawlty Towers and The Vicar of Dibley. The Company has great producers/directors in Steve Clark and David Lovesy, and a superb cast. You may have caught our performance of 'Allo 'Allo! at The Arches in August.

I also represent the rights for the works of Ray Galton and Alan Simpson by arrangement with Tessa Le Bars Management, which means we are able to put on some fantastic shows. I just negotiated the rights to put on Porridge, although this production has been hampered by the pandemic.

When I'm not writing or acting, you can find me tickling the ivories with 'The Elements song' by Tom Lehrer or playing in my comedy jazz band, 'The Bolivian Sunshine Dogs'!

You can also find me performing magic and teaching magic workshops. I have a great little online shop selling all the products you need to do close up and classic magic tricks, which would be great fun to do with the family over Christmas. Why not take a look at www.magicandmore.co.uk and find out more?

I'm also putting together a series of videos on my Instagram @archestheatre to show you how to perform these tricks and wow your audience! Please take a look and if you have any questions, pop me over an email!

Why not share your magic skills with me on my Instagram?
