We'll be joining in the celebrations this Thursday (the 30th April) for the eighth #LoveMK Day 2020. Will you? Organised by the official tourism organisation Destination Milton Keynes (DMK), this special day usually promotes Milton Keynes as a leisure and business destination ...
However, this year DMK have chosen to highlight and celebrate all the people and businesses who are going above and beyond to support their community and spread joy during this difficult time.
DMK is asking residents of Milton Keynes to head over to their social media channels on Thursday, to praise the people in the community who are doing amazing things. If you know someone then why not give them some recognition? Remember to use the hashtag #Lovemk.
It is amazing to see just how many fantastic businesses there are in our city. I think this year will be much more poignant and it will give us all a chance to thank all the kind and special people who are going the extra mile for all of us.
To add our own positivity and spread some joy on the day, we will be running a little competition of our own on our social media channels! We will be giving away a pair of tickets to each of our three productions at our outdoor theatre near Olney, to three lucky people. It will be something to look forward to once all this has ended.
The three productions to choose from are:
- A Midsummer Night's Dream performed by Etcetera Theatre Company on 6-8 August
- The Merchant of Venice performed by The Wet Mariners on 15 August (matinee/evening)
- Allo 'Allo! performed by Milton Keynes Theatre of Comedy (MKTOC) on 12th/13th and 19th/20th September
To be in with the chance of winning, all you need to do on Thursday (30 April) is head over to Twitter and like/retweet our post or visit our Facebook Page, find our competition post, like it and tag who you will be bringing in the comments. Good luck!
Staying with the positives, the brilliant David Lovesy from Hive Creative and MKTOC has been collecting great news stories from in and around Milton Keynes over the last few weeks. He has now compiled a new online publication called upshotMK. He is always looking for stories so if you have one, why not let him know!
We hope you'll be able to join us online on Thursday with #LoveMK Day. See you then!
