A Ripping Good Show From MKTOC!

Last week we said that we weren't going to divulge any detail of the productions coming to The Arches next summer. But we have booked something from Milton Keynes Theatre of Comedy (MKTOC) that we can't keep to ourselves ...

MKTOC is bringing an exclusive stage production of Ripping Yarns to The Arches Theatre in 2021. For those who don't know, Ripping Yarns is a series of BAFTA award-winning comic plays written by Michael Palin and Terry Jones of Monty Python fame.

Created for the BBC from 1976 until 1979, Ripping Yarns is a series of parodies of the Boys' Own books and magazines of their childhood, bought to life with hilarious effect and outright silliness!

We have been given the go-ahead to put Ripping Yarns on at The Arches Theatre directly from both Michael Palin himself and Terry Jones' wife, Alison. They are really keen to make this happen, as are we. We are delighted that local troupe MKTOC will be returning next summer and putting their stamp on this hit TV comedy.

The actors and production team who have already produced a highly successful stage adaptation of the show in July 2009, are being invited back to create even more hilarity for our audiences.

Which episodes they will be performing is still TBC:

- Could it be Tomkinson's Schooldays, where Tomkinson's tries to escape his school where pupils are shot for disobedience and nailed to the walls for fun?

- Could it be 'Golden Gordon', with Gordon Ottershaw the loyal fan of the worst football team in history, Barnestoneworth United? We will just have to wait and find out!

All profits to go to a dementia charity

We have agreed that all profits from the shows will go to a dementia charity (TBC), due to Terry and both of Arches owner David Pibworth's father and uncle suffering from dementia.

We are very excited to share this news with you and hope that you will be able to join us for some side-splitting comedy while supporting a charity close to our hearts.

Further details to follow soon.
